Did you know that by simply wearing the color orange you can help stop gun violence? Friday, June 2nd marked National Gun Violence Awareness Day, and many people honored the day bringing awareness to the issue that many have been affected by, by wearing orange.

The color orange become synonymous with gun violence two years after the fatal shooting and death of 15-year-old high school Hadiya Pendleton on Jan. 29, 2013, in Chicago, Illinois. The honor student and drum majorette’s untimely death sparked the Wear Orange campaign, as her friends decided to not only celebrate her life but bring awareness to gun violence by wearing orange.

To date, the campaign has quickly grown, bringing awareness and support across the globe. They’ve even gotten support from celebrities and major American fashion brands such as Donna Karan, Tom Ford and Zac Posen.
