While Marc Jacobs might be failing when it comes to his interesting choices on the runway and insensitivity towards the backlash to those choices, Marc Jacobs Beauty is winning. Just in time for the coming season, the brand has released the Coconut Collection, a set of products destined to give you the dewy summer glow of your dreams, starting by taking care of the most important factor: your skin.
Even if you’re forgoing foundation in the warmer months, it’s still a good idea to apply a primer to your face after moisturizing. Primers aren’t only good for making foundation last longer, they also help smooth and hydrate skin. This primer, in particular, is formulated with five different forms of coconut, including cold-pressed coconut water, juice, and pulp, to create the natural vitamin-rich formula. And let me tell you, it feels amazing going on and has a fresh scent that literally took me back to sipping water out of fresh coconuts on the side of the road in Costa Rica.
After applying the primer, I went for the Dew Drops which are recommended for use under or over foundation or mixed in with the primer. I applied the highlighter to my primed, bare skin to get a feel for how the product would look alone which is how I’ll likely use it when I’m on vacation and not wearing a full face of makeup. After trying a drop on my hand, I knew I was going to love the luminous finish on my face. I applied the golden-peach gel to my upper cheek bone, down the center of my nose, and in the middle of my forehead– all places where light naturally bounces off of our faces.
To balance out the highlight, I applied the O!Mega Bronzer to the hollows of my cheeks and around the perimeter of my face. This creates a contour-like effect that accentuates the highlight even more. I used the bronzer in Tan Tastic, but the shade above (Tantric) is better suited for brown skin tones.
To apply the bronzer, I used the new Marc Jacobs Bronzer Brush which is quite possibly the softest brush I’ve ever used. The feather-soft bristles allowed me to easily blend the bronzer across my face without picking up too much product — trust me you do not want to O.D. on bronzer. This extra-large brush makes it easy to do a light dusting of bronzer which is really all you want.
To finish, I sprayed a few pumps of the Coconut setting mist which not only fixes makeup so it stays in place but provides an added layer of hydration. I’ve used a number of different setting sprays and facial mists, and this is my favorite by far in terms of how it feels on my face. The mist feels like a light coating of milk — soft, conditioning, and without any sticky film or hardness when it dries. It’s a refreshing way to start the day. I definitely recommend you check out the coconut collection to get your glow on for the summer.
