Former Couples Who Are Winning At Co-Parenting
Most couples don’t even know how to break-up successfully, let alone still deal with each other in some capacity after calling it quits. And that’s exactly what couples who have kids together have to figure out because there’s no such thing as quitting parenting, no matter how terrible your ex-lover/spouse. It’s for that reason we felt the need to salute those former couples who are winning at co-parenting. We know it’s not easy and we appreciate those who are working overtime to be positive examples of love and respect for their little one(s).
Wiz and Amber
How adorable do these three look celebrating Sebastian’s fourth birthday.
Heidi Klum and Seal
Heidi has been involved with two different men since divorcing Seal in 2015, but that hasn’t stopped the former couple from continue to spend lots of quality time together and share family vacations.
Swizz Beatz, Mashonda, and Alicia Keys
Mashonda may not have planned this beach day with ex-husband Swizz Beatz and his current wife Alicia Keys, but her comfort being in their presence through a public display of affection is a testament to the type of relationship they have.
Sheree Fletcher and Will and Jada Smith
In March 2014, Jada Pinkett wrote an entire Facebook post about her journey to step-co-parenting bliss with Will’s ex-wife Sheree Fletcher.
“Two women who were begrudgingly thrown together that made a decision to make SOMETHING good out of it. Our common purpose was ONE THING…to create a family for a little boy named…Trey…This will be one of my most proud accomplishments of my life.”
Marc Anthony and J Lo
When you can still kiss your ex on the lips, you’ve got to be doing a helluva job co-parenting.
Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz
Zoe Kravitz may be grown but you never stop being a parent, and Lenny and Lisa do a great job supporting their daughter together.
Nia Long and Massai Dorsey
Two years ago we asked Nia about her experience co-parenting with ex-husband Massai Dorsey and she told us:
“I know one thing that my boy Massai will be able to say is, ‘Yeah, my mom and dad may have had their differences, but they liked each other.’ He may not be able to articulate that at this time, but I believe when he is an adult, he will say, ‘Yeah, they had their moments, but they were cool.’ His dad comes over to dinner. He’s still a part of my family. It may not be traditional, I may not have had seven marriages [like Elizabeth Taylor], but you have to do what works. Not what other people think works for you. Just be liberated. What are we tied down to? We tie ourselves down.”
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon
Mimi and Nick seem to hang out together with their kids post-split just as much as they did when they were married.
