(function(d, s, id) {
if (d.getElementById(id)) return;
var js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;
js.src = ‘//cdn4.wibbitz.com/static.js’;
d.getElementsByTagName(‘body’)[0].appendChild(js);
}(document, ‘script’, ‘wibbitz-static-embed’));

I’ve seen some very silly people attempt to liken the word “cracker” to the N word. And someone Black, someone better versed in the ways of oppression, mentioned that the mere fact that cracker could be said and spelled aloud on television while the word n*gger had to be bleeped and blurred out, explained which one was worse.

The word cracker might not exactly be nice or polite but “cracker” wasn’t used to keep an already enslaved people feeling inferior. It wasn’t hurled at White folks before they were strung up on trees. And it certainly doesn’t stir up feelings of both fury and affinity like the n word often does.

It’s not a word that is acceptable in proper, professional or polite circles. So imagine the faux pas Yahoo Finance committed when they tweeted it yesterday.

Womp.

But if Black people know how to do anything, it’s make miracles out of messes. Black Twitter was all over this one. Turning N*gger Navy into the funniest hashtag of 2017.
