While Christmas may be in our rear view mirror, New Year’s Eve is coming up fast and furiously. And if you’re anything like us, then you may have left planning for the big night to the very last minute. But don’t worry, MadameNoire is pleased to help you sift through the NYE options to key-in on exactly the right fit for what you’re looking for. Here are a few fun ways to ring in the new year.

Hit The Bars

Tried and true in the annals of NYE debauchery, hitting the town for a night of open bars and food that probably isn’t substantial enough for the amount of alcohol consumed is a yearly right of passage for many. And while your options may be a little more limited if you’ve waited to the last minute to purchase tickets, there are plenty of bars out there still available. Just make sure whichever you choose, you show up early: Lines will be out the door and the last thing you want to do is freeze your buns off before the night begins.

Make It A Date Night

If you’re looking for something a little more low-key, might we suggest doing something with the main squeeze to ring in the new year? A nice dinner out on the town with some delicious craft cocktails could be the way to go. But definitely get on those reservations ASAP!

NYE Cruise

You’re going to want to pay close attention to the weather when it comes to this suggestion, but if clear skies and not sub-zero temperatures are in your region’s NYE future, then a cruise to ring in the new year could be a great option to share with friends and loved ones. Particularly if you’re in NYC to celebrate NYE, the views you’ll get from a cruise around Manhattan are unmatched — and it’s a nice departure from being jam packed into a club or bar.

Keep It Local

A particularly useful suggestion for those who call the ‘burbs home. While spending NYE in the nearest city could seem like the way to go, might we offer you another suggestion: Keep it local. Be it your quaint neighborhood bar or that nice hotel a town over, keeping things local can be just as fun as venturing into the city, while making the post-party commute much, much easier.

Throw A House Party

OK, hear us out before scoffing at this option. If you don’t have plans yet, then it’s safe to say you’re not the only one in your friend group who has waited until the eleventh hour. So why not take the initiative and throw a small, yet boozy celebration to cap off a very rough 2016? While you’ll want to supply some alcohol and get at least a solid base of food, don’t be shy about making your party a bit more communal – BYOB, baby!

Stay At Home

OK, this might seem like a cop out sort of suggestion, but after the rough, sad, surprising and wholly frustrating 2016 we’ve had, why not enjoy a quiet night in. Use the time to set goals and intentions for 2017.

Get Active

Pivoting completely away from staying at home or boozing in a hot, new club, why not start off 2017 on the right foot … literally. From NYE 5Ks to fun bike rides, there are plenty of active options that can give NYE revelers a healthier option to bid adieu to 2016.

Take In A Concert

While tickets could be challenging to come by at this point, don’t close yourself off to the opportunity to take in a great concert on December 31. Whether checking out a cool local band or a marquee name (like Bruno Mars or The Roots), going the concert route could be a fun way to wave goodbye to 2016.

Enjoy A Comedy Show

In a similar vein to a concert, getting tickets to a comedy show could be a unique way to celebrate NYE this year. It also makes for a great date night if you actually want to spend some time with your beau that doesn’t involve shouting over speakers or elbowing your way to face him.

Road Trip

This one is, admittedly, a little on the ambitious side. But if you’ve got no one in your office and you can make a run for it early afternoon on Friday, then a weekend getaway might not be out of the question if you’re willing to shell out a little extra dough. Find available rooms or good deals can be tricky, but they’re out there if you put in a little time and get creative.
