For many Black women, loving their hair is an ever-evolving journey, but Black mothers have the added task of also teaching their daughters how to love their own hair, and that’s not exactly easy. To help moms who are struggling to find the right words, Dove has asked Kimora Lee Simmons, Mel B., and Christina Milian to share how they instill hair pride in their daughters with their #LoveYourHair campaign.

Christina Milian posted a photo proclaiming her love for her daughter, Violet’s, braided hair, writing:

“I’m thrilled to be working with Dove Hair to encourage mothers to share a #LoveYourHair selfie to pass along hair confidence to their daughters. My daughter Violet loves to wear her hair in her favorite style, cornrows and braids, and I personally love to see her love her hair.”

Mel B. uploaded a similar post declaring her love for daughter Madison’s wild curls.

“I love my baby Madison’s hair because it’s wild and free just like her, with dark brown bouncy curls that are full of life,” she wrote. “I want her to grow up feeling confident of her curls, so I tell her how beautiful her curly hair is every day!”

Kimora Lee also explained why she loves teen girls’ Ming Lee and Aoki Lee’s hair, sharing:

“I love Ming Lee and Aoki Lee’s hair because it’s so fabulous!! I’m proud to be working with Dove Hair to encourage mothers to share a #LoveYourHair selfie to pass along hair confidence to their daughters. Go to loveyourhair.dove.com to create an image sharing why you love your daughter’s hair and tag @Dove.”

Even bloggers like Naptural85 and Babyshopa have joined in on the movement.
