I’m always surprised to learn of the people who are just now receiving their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And Viola Davis was certainly one of those people. With an Academy Award, two Tonys for her work on Broadway two Emmys for her television career and five NAACAP Awards, under her belt, she’s long past due for hers.

Thankfully, she’s finally getting just a bit of the recognition she deserves. According to Walk of Fame.com, Davis will be honored at the top of the year on January 5 when she’ll receive the 2,596th star on the Walk of Fame in the category of Motion Pictures. Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said,

“Viola is one of the actresses who always mesmerizes fans with her talent. She is amazing and we are thrilled that she will grace our world famous Hollywood Walk of Fame.”

Davis’ fellow actor and friend Meryl Streep is set to speak at the ceremony.
