In the history of America’s Next Top Model, plus-size contestants have been few and far between. Everyone remembers Toccara Jones, and plus-size beauty Whitney Thompson even won Cycle 10 of the show. However, there hasn’t been very much representation of curvier figures on the series since then.
But now that it’s been revamped for VH1 with a new host, look and judges, some people were hoping for a change. It only makes sense considering that “It” girl Ashley Graham was scooped up and made a judge on the series. However, as pointed out by Danielle Brooks, Orange Is the New Black star and body positivity advocate, as the newest season began, there still was no sight of even one plus-size model. Brooks said that just isn’t acceptable when 67 percent of women in this country are considered plus size.
She followed that up with an image of herself in all of her curvaceous glory:
What do you think? With the inclusion of plus-size model Ashley Graham as a judge, were those behind ANTM wrong for not seeking out any plus-size beauties?
