Chicago Lobbyists Ring up $6 Million in 6 Months

(Chicago Tribune) — In the game of City Hall influence, the list of registered lobbyists serves as the unofficial roster.  Found among the nearly 300 names are current and former government officials, lawyers for mayors past and present, and political insiders who have served as mouthpieces for top city and state politicians.All told, they were paid more than $6 million from Jan. 20 to July 20, according to recently posted city data the Tribune analyzed.  The lobbyists handled zoning applications, sought approval for special taxing districts, pushed contracts, asked for government funding and took sides on legislation.  All told, they were paid more than $6 million from Jan. 20 to July 20, according to recently posted city data the Tribune analyzed.
