Michelle Obama To Sit Down With Oprah For Her Last Interview As First Lady

December 5, 2016  |

The thought of the Obamas leaving the White House has always been a sad one. But now that we know who they’ll be replaced with, it’s become tragic. Still, we can’t deny the inevitable. And in preparation of saying so long and farewell, the first couple is doing a lot of things for the last time. Last week, they lit the Christmas tree for the last time. President Obama pardoned the turkey for the last time.

And, in a couple of weeks, First Lady Michelle Obama will sit down with Oprah for her final interview before she leaves the White House. Seeing that these two have become friends, we doubt it’ll be the last time they chat, but it will be the last time we’ll be privy to it, while Mrs. Obama holds this particular office, though I’m sure we’ll still be as interested in what she has to say once she leaves the White House, perhaps even more so.

According to The Hill, the sit down is a part of an upcoming special called “First Lady Michelle Obama Says Farewell to the White House,” and is scheduled to air on December 19 on CBS.

It will air a second time on OWN on Dec. 21.

A CBS press release said, “During this exclusive interview in the first family’s private residence, topics will include details about life at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and [Michelle Obama’s] eight years as first lady of the United States, the legacy she’ll leave behind, and her plans for the future.”

The last time we saw Mrs. Obama and Oprah together was for the United State of women summit in Washington, earlier this year where Mrs. Obama issued, memorably, issued a challenge for men to do better.

We can’t wait to see what other gems and jewels she drops later this month.
