Naya Rivera Files For Divorce From Husband After Two Years Of Marriage
After tying the knot with actor Ryan Dorsey on the same day she was supposed to marry rapper Big Sean in July 2014, Naya Rivera has filed for divorce two years later.
Us Weekly reports that the Los Angeles County Court has confirmed that the former Glee actress filed the paperwork to end her marriage on November 15. Rivera is actually seeking primary physical custody of the couple’s 14-month-old son, Josey, while offering Dorsey visitation rights.
As we pointed out in 2014, the couple said “I do” three months after Rivera and Big Sean called it quits. And while Rivera and Dorsey’s wedding day should have been the perfect date, as it was Dorsey’s birthday, the fact that it was the date she was set to have her original nuptials with Sean left many scratching their heads.
At the time, the pair, who had known each other for years, were over the moon in happiness. “We feel truly blessed to be joined as husband and wife,” they told People. “Our special day was fated and everything we could have ever asked for.” They added, “True love always prevails.”
In her book, Sorry Not Sorry, Rivera revealed that she and Dorsey actually dated back in 2010. They split when she decided she needed to shift her focus to her career. Rivera found out she was pregnant with Dorsey’s child soon after and revealed that she had an abortion without telling him. So while their relationship may have seemed out of the blue to many people, they have gone on quite the emotional roller coaster with one another over the years. Sad to hear that it’s coming to an end.
