For some people, Phil Jackson calling LeBron and his business partners a “posse” might be no big deal. But as we’ve mentioned before, the language is coded and plays into the notion that any group of Black men is somehow dangerous and gang-related. If Jackson called a group of Italian business men a mafia, people would understand why LeBron had to say something. Thankfully, James spoke publicly about the word. And maybe in the future, James will be willing to lend his voice to others, more consistently.
