Woman Wins $43 Million At The Casino But They Refuse To Pay
Gambling has always scared me. Mostly because I see how it can become addictive. And even more so because as my father always used to say, ‘Those casinos weren’t built because of all the winners in Vegas.” On the contrary, it’s the money from losers that have built the huge edifices we’ve seen all over the country.
But it might not just be the losers that are contributing to these casinos. It might be the winners who aren’t getting their just due. That’s what happened to Katrina Bookman. She was in a New York casino this past August when she hit the $43 million jackpot.
When she realized she won, she immediately made plans for the money. She was going to buy her son a barbershop and give back to her community. But when she went to cash out, she was told she hadn’t won at all.
Apparently, the machine’s maximum prize was $6,500. Her win was regarded as a malfunction. And Resorts World Casino is refusing to pay her.
Bookman was escorted off the casino floor and workers told her, “You didn’t win nothing.”
The casino later offered her a steak dinner for her troubles and an insulting $2.25.
Bookman is currently suing the casino. Her attorney said since the machine takes gambler’s money when they lose, they should absolutely pay out when you win.
As for the offending machine, it was removed from the floor and the malfunction was fixed.
What do you think Bookman deserves?
