We all know to beware of the ads on Craigslist. On a site where any and everyone can post, there is no way to regulate the type of people who are advertising their shady services. According to CBS 2 Jessica Mahecha, a 25-year-old woman living in New Jersey, stumbled on some bad luck when she attempted to find a hair stylist using the site.

Mahecha traveled to a woman’s apartment complex to get her hair done, by a woman, Maryam Simpson, who went by the name Freddy. Mahecha wanted extensions dyed and then applied to her hair. Instead, Freddy dyed Mahecha’s actual hair.

“I didn’t want to dye my hair. So I had requested that she do an extension so I didn’t have to touch any of my personal hair.”

That didn’t happen. And when Mahecha said that she was dissatisfied with the service, Freddy pepper-sprayed her in the face.

“I had the police on the phone when she attacked me with pepper spray.”

After Freddy assaulted Mahecha, she fled the apartment before police could arrive. Still, they were able to eventually track her down and arrest her. She was charged with aggravated assault and a weapons offense.

Mahecha has been treated for her injuries.

Have you ever used a stylist from Craigslist? Have you had a positive experience?
