Beyoncé “Never Genuinely Liked” Kim Kardashian? Duh!

So there’s a story running on Page Six today that attempts to explain the riff between Jay Z and Kanye West by blaming Beyoncé for the demise of the rappers’ bromance. A source reportedly told the newspaper, the beef between the two “stems right back to Beyoncé’s dislike of Kim and that’s why Blue and North have never had a play date.”

The Kardashian source says, “Beyoncé has never genuinely liked Kim. She’s mostly tolerated her because of their husbands’ friendship and [their] mutual friends, like Jennifer Lopez. She is always a little icy to Kim. The last time they hung out, the minute Beyoncé could leave the conversation, she did. They always have lots of awkward pauses.”

So upon first read of this story I thought, “Duh!” The stories and memes alleging Beyoncé isn’t really here for Kim are numerous, and, truthfully, we can’t name a single thing that would draw Bey to Kim. At the same time, Beyoncé is a woman who has dropped two albums back to back without a single detail being leaked to the media beforehand. Do you think she’s going to let on to the fact that she doesn’t approve of Kanye’s wife or allow anyone who has taken notice speak to the press?

When I saw the source informing Page Six was a “Kardashian source,” I thought, this is exactly why Bey isn’t here for Kim. While I won’t pretend Beyoncé doesn’t also enjoy her share of attention, historically any attention the singer draws stems from her music and not professional or personal quarrels. Bey’s camp is tight and they don’t slip details to the press for the sake of headlines. On the other hand, Kim and her klan live for such calculated opportunities, and as I pointed out in my piece on Jay and Ye’s beef, it’s no surprise this couple refuses to allow Blue Ivy to get caught up in the nonsense.

The headlines running today are a perfect example of why Blue and North have never played together, and Kanye would be better off looking at his wife’s history of attention whoring than Jay Z’s assumed lack of concern when attempting to explain the breakdown in their relationship.

Bey’s rep told Page Six the story is “ridiculous, to say the least,” and that’s exactly my perception from the outside. While I certainly don’t doubt Beyoncé isn’t a fan of Kim and her minions, we’re also talking about a woman who stood by and watched as her sister attempted to drop her husband in an elevator after the Met Gala and who walked out like nothing happened. Is she really going to risk her perfect, drama-free image on a Kardashian? I think not.
