When someone dies, most of us struggle to find the right words to say. And no one has exemplified that difficulty more than Jazmine Sullivan who is currently being dragged over the way she chose to remember the late gospel singer, Thomas “TC” Clay.
Clay was found dead in his hotel room this weekend. The singer, who was also father to a son, reportedly died in his sleep and a cause of death has yet to be determined. Nevertheless, news of his passing sparked condolences from many singers in the industry, including an odd remembrance from Sullivan who posted the following.
While it seems the underlying point in Sullivan’s musings was that she was a bit too hasty in dismissing TC’s advances and missed out on a good thing, I can’t argue with those who’ve pointed out this isn’t exactly the time to share that bit of news. And that it’s just a tad bit tacky to make this man’s death about her. Now does that warrant trending on Twitter and becoming the subject of a public dragging? I don’t think so. Though the following tweets did give me a good chuckle.
Still, the singer has already removed the post, suggesting she recognizes the error of her ways. And like I said, most of us don’t know the right thing to say when someone passes. But we all can agree this isn’t it.
