McDonald’s 365Black Awards Community Choice Awards

- By

This year, McDonald’s 365Black Awards blesses us with the pride our community needs during such turbulent times. Hosted by actress/singer Amber Riley and actor/photographer Lance Gross, the 365Black Awards will showcase talented artists such as Chrisette Michele, Anthony Hamilton, Kelly Price, Eric Benet and many more.

Another highlight – this year the Community Choice Awards were given to Lauren Seroyer, a 16-year-old high school student who has a passion for diminishing the amount of food desserts that affect communities, nationwide. After learning that a fellow classmate didn’t have food in his house, Seroyer developed the Community Assistance & Resource Effort (CARE) Closet program which provides students with food for themselves and their families.

The other award was given to Donovan Smith, who is a 13-year-old social entrepreneur from New Mexico. Similarly to Seroyer, Smith focuses on the wellness of those, particularly affected by homelessness. He has raised money for the homeless shelter him and his mother once lived in. Since then, he has donated 1,000 soap monthly to the St. Martins Shower Room.
