This Taraji P. Henson Entertainment Weekly Cover Pretty Much Says It All

Taraji P. Henson has been in the game for a long time, but there’s no doubt that right now is her moment. With a hit show on Fox and a leading role in the upcoming movie, Hidden Figures, which is also expected to be a hit, not to mention a MAC makeup line launching this month, the most appropriate response to everything the actress is doing right now is exactly what Entertainment Weekly put on their cover with her: “Yaasss Queen!”

We can talk about the magazine’s vernacular choice later, but for now let’s revel in the queendom that is Henson’s current reign in the entertainment industry. As the ever-humble 45-year-old explained:

“This is my first time carrying a show and then going to carry a movie. That’s a lot. It’s so stressful, and I had to really check myself because it’s so easy to take for granted when you get to a certain level. Like check yourself because people pray to be here.”

Plenty have prayed for Henson to be in this very place as well, ever since watching her as Yvette in Baby Boy and seeing her virtually transform in the very different role of Queenie in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. And even though we’ve seen a great range from the star already, she still has many more characters she wants to portray.

“I haven’t played a superhero yet, I haven’t played a psycho character yet. I want to play a man, like I want to really disappear. I have so much to do.”
