(As relayed by Lauren R.D. Fox based on a culmination of experiences)
My cousin Zara and I recently traveled to Bursa, Turkey, for the first time and our trip has been nothing short of amazing—that is, except for one of the guests who is staying at the same hotel as us.
We met said guest one night at the hotel bar. He’s an older man from Amsterdam and wasn’t shy about sharing how attracted he is to me. I repeatedly told him I’m engaged but he didn’t seem to care about my relationship or its validity. To make matters worse, he told me (in front of Zara and the new friends we made at the hotel), “I’d bed you right now if I had the chance.” Completely grossed out by his slack behavior, my friends and I left him at the hotel and found another venue to hang for the evening.
The morning after our weird encounter, Zara and I saw the same man; only this time he was with a woman and four children. We assumed that he was married and on a family vacation and that the incident the night before was prompted by alcohol. But we shouldn’t have dismissed his flirtatious behavior so soon.
Despite traveling with his wife and kids, the man continuously made sure that he either stared too long, winked or closely brushed past me throughout my hotel stay. This occurred regularly, until one day I was coming from the hotel pool and he touched my derriere when he passed by me. He claimed it was an accident but I’ve heard that excuse before.
I told Zara about the incident and she thinks I should tell the hotel staff and wife. I definitely understand telling the staff about this creep, but am I doing too much if I tell his wife about his incredulous behavior?
