How important is hair to a man? Compared to the way women look at hair? Black women especially!? Not very important. Men can grow their hair out to tremendous lengths, and at the drop of a hat, cut it off just because they feel like it. Not too much maintenance is usually necessary, but growth potential for some men is crazy. Men have the opportunity to do crazy, cool and sometimes straight up ugly things to their heads, and the same goes for male celebrities. Here are 10 celebs who have transformed their hair like no other and kept us shocked, surprised, and delighted by their transformations.

Bow Wow
Even when Bow Wow first stepped on the scene as a toddler rapper his drapage was a force to be reckoned with. Once he started smelling himself he did away with the braids.

Lloyd
Lloyd’s locks made a name for Murder Inc.’s sole male crooner. His hair looked so soft and shiny that you just wanted to play in it. It was a shock to the system when he took the scissors to his head. Which of Lloyd’s looks do you prefer?

Malcolm Jamal Warner

We literally watched Malcolm grow from a boy to man. Over the course of the years we’ve seen the great lengths and chops his hair has undergone.

Ludacris

Luda’s change from braids to fades was a big one, and if you ask us, his new look definitely improved his maturity level: Less songs about proclaiming some chick is a “ho” and more conscious rhymes from time to time (see “Runaway Love”).

Busta Rhymes
We love Bussa Buss, but boy do we miss the dreads that we know him for. They gave him a fun, colorful, wild personality, and now that his hair stays on the low low, doesn’t he remind you of…every other rapper? Just saying…

Chris Brown

While Chris Brown was making his transition from sweet and innocent to sultry and scandalous his chair was also going through some changes. Chris went from a plain ole fade, to a mohawk– and how could we ever forget the blond?

Lenny Kravitz

You got to give this guy props, he’s gone through more drastic hair changes then most people in the industry. Dreadhead, pressed locks or a full, fun fro, Lenny has done almost everything with his head and looked damn good in the process.

Maxwell

Maxwell definitely shocked his fan base not necessarily when he took his long sabbatical from music, but when he came back from it with little to no hair! But let’s not play, Maxwell could get it with braids, that lovable fro, or the low fade he’s rocking right now. Do it boo!

Justin Timberlake

You don’t realize how many different hairstyles JT has been through until you do a quick Google search. Shoot. In his N’Sync days baby boy was changing his hair every other week. I was partial to his curly afro but I didn’t see Justin’s true Hot until he started rocking the buzz cut.

Kanye West

Kanye-to-the is more known for the changes in his style of music and his fashion sense rather than the changes to his hair. But when you follow him close like I do, you notice a thing or two. Bet you didn’t know that at the beginning of his career our favorite Caesar-cut wearer had braids? Crazy!
