Mindfulness Through Yoga

I’m sometimes surprised when I hear someone say they hate yoga because it’s “too slow.”  That always tells me something about them.  People who resist exercise routines like yoga or Pilates are often the same folks who can’t stop to smell the poppies.  And that’s unfortunate, because yoga packs a double punch to stress and anxiety through poses like Sun Salutation and Downward-Facing Dog.  Yoga forces you to be in the moment, lest you fall flat on your face while attempting the Airplane pose.  What’s even better is the deep, yogic breathing that floods your body with oxygen and relaxes you just as good as a glass of wine would, but without the calories.  Even better, yoga helps you get a long, lean ballerina body.  You bear your own weight, which makes you strong, and you elongate your muscles so they don’t look stumpy.
