Yesterday (June 3), the world mourned with heavy hearts when news broke that one of the greatest fighters in the history of boxing, Muhammad Ali, passed away at the age of 74.

“After a 32-year battle with Parkinson’s disease, Muhammad Ali has passed away at the age of 74,” family spokesperson Bob Gunnell said. The three-time heavyweight champ had been hospitalized in the Phoenix, Arizona area earlier in the week on Thursday (June 2) for a respiratory issue. At the time, a rep had communicated the champ was in fair condition. Later on, details of Ali being placed on life support would be revealed.

Asaad Ali, the late boxer’s son, wrote on Instagram, “Forever grateful for everything you have ever gave me… You’ve showen me how to love the world in ways I didn’t know possible.” His daughter Hani Ali tweeted, “Our father was a ‘Humble Mountain!’ And now he has gone home to God.”

Ali’s funeral will take place in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, said Gunell in a statment, adding “the Ali family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and support and asks for privacy at this time.”

Rest in peace, Ali. Continue scrolling to see how celebs remembered the life and legacy of the Greatest.
