Tattooed Lip Color — Would You Try It?

A lot of ladies are going an extra mile these days when it comes to beauty. You know what they say, “beauty is pain,” but how far would you really be willing to go when it comes to looks?

Over the weekend, a video of a woman getting color tattooed on her lips. Of course, we all that cosmetic tattooing is nothing new, especially when it comes to filling in ones eyebrows. But lips are a first! There’s no tracker on where the video came from, but with over 800,000 views and thousands of comments its been making its rounds on the web.

After a bit of research, apparently the tattooing of lip color can be done to achieve the so-called new trend of everyone fawning over fuller lips. New York City-based permanent-makeup artist Amy Kernahan, told Allure that lip tattoos are meant to enhance lips, not create actual fullness. “This procedure is designed to define lips, not to create volume or puffiness, said Kernahan. “It will just give you the appearance of a full lip. Since part of the process is outlining right on the border of the lip, I’m only helping to give your lips the appearance that their fuller.”

Also, if ladies are more concerned with the color and not fullness, Kernahan makes it happen, too. Many times, customers ask for a more natural shade. “The more natural the color, the more frequent your touch-ups are going be. “If someone comes in and says, ‘I love my color; I just want it to be a hint more,’ they’re probably going to have to come in once a year for touch-ups to refresh that color.”

And if you were wondering about pain, yes, Kernahan says it’s painful. Not sure if it’s that serious to get your lips tattooed for a fuller look or a specific color when there’s a plethora of products on the market that are cheaper, a lot less painful, and not permanent.
What are your thoughts? Would you try it?
