Instead of yoga, I got my morning exercise via a 20-minute bike ride to the Fería Agricola y Artesanal (Art and Agricultural Market) in Puerto Viejo. The Saturday morning market is a wellness haven with vendors selling fresh produce, bread, supplements and herbs, natural skin and haircare products, and jewelry. I bought a little bit of each.
After lunch, Hillary Damato of Mind Body Wellness took us on a beach exploration voyage and hike to Punta Uva, considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Along the way, we sipped fresh coconut water while learning about all of the medicinal properties of Costa Rica’s native plant life before making it to the top of Punta Uva’s highest point in the midst of a torrential downpour.
After the hike, Hilary, who specializes in massage, live food workshops, detoxification, holistic nutrition, and wellness presentations, conducted a raw beauty workshop with our group, showing us all the ways we can use natural fruits to enhance our skin.
