While I love my natural hair, every once in a while, I like to switch things up. I recently had the opportunity to test out a brand of hair extensions, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised.
Get Inched is a line of luxury hair extensions, which offers hair sourced from both Brazil and Malaysia. For this review, I tried the Brazilian loose wave extensions.
I received three bundles, and they were each individually wrapped to prevent tangling and placed inside of a satin bag. When I first removed the hair from its packaging, it was incredibly soft and bouncy. It also smelled great.
Instead of getting a regular sew-in, I chose to go the do-it-yourself route and created a set of clip-ins using one 18′ bundle and one and one-half 16′ bundles. The wefts are pretty thin, so making the clip-ins was relatively easy.
Developers for the brand recommend washing your Get Inched extensions every 5 to 7 days to keep them looking their best, and I completely agree. My hair looked great for about six days, and I received so many compliments, but by day seven, it was obvious that the extensions were becoming weighed down by the natural oils coming from my real hair, and my curls were pretty much nonexistent at that point. I decided to wash my hair and the extensions on the seventh day. I washed them using sulfate-free shampoo; then I followed up with a conditioner and deep conditioner. I allowed them to air dry and then I applied a leave-in conditioner spray to return moisture.
I was happy to see that the extensions remained soft, manageable and tangle-free after washing. They took on a looser more wavy pattern, and I had a hard time recreating curls as bouncy as the ones that were in the extensions when I first received them. However, I was still very happy with my hair and continued to receive a ton of compliments.
Get Inched hair extensions are very versatile, which I can appreciate. So far, I’ve had them in for two weeks, and I’ve worn them curled and straight. I haven’t experienced much shedding and tangling hasn’t really been a problem either, which is a huge plus. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for quality hair extensions.
