Who doesn’t love receiving flowers from their man? This gal (*points to self*) sure does. But I always feel sorry when my fiancé comes to my place a few days later and finds the cluster he bought me leaned to the side on their last leg. It’s safe to say I don’t have a green thumb. So I did some digging to figure out where I’ve been going wrong, and what I found were some eye-opening things (I mean, if you care about keeping flowers for longer than two days…) that I thought I’d share with you. For instance:
Clean Your Vase Thoroughly
Mutha Martha (Stewart) says that before you even dare to put your flowers in a vase, you need to clean it pretty extensively. You’re probably thinking, “Duh!” But not with soap and water. Swap out the soap for “1 part bleach to 10 parts water” to help keep your arrangement as good as new. Extra emphasis on the use of water to clean out all signs of bleach.
When your water gets cloudy again, remove the flowers and clean the vase one mo’ gin.
