Getting Through Your Family Gathering

7. Incorporate some history in the mix

This past week during  my family reunion my grandfather took us to the very home he grew up in with his siblings and parents. I’ve always respected my grandfather’s hustle, his ability to immigrate into the United States and make a name for he and his family. But something about seeing the actual two bedroom house where he, his 8 siblings and his two parents lived, made me admire him that much more. He’s come and long way and being able to share in that legacy is something I and the rest of my family take great pride in it. Focusing in on the past and where you’ve come from as a family has the power to make all the petty, present day arguments seem like nothing.
