Qream (pronounced like cream, but made all fancy and quirky with the “q”) is super producer Pharrell Williams’ new liqueur line. He teamed up with Diageo,” the world’s premium drink business” according to the press release. Diageo also puts out Crown Royal, Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker, Diddy’s Ciroc and a host of other big name brands that you’ve consumed over the years.

If the pink and gold logo was not clue enough, the curvy bottle with its slender neck and golden top/crown gives you a hint that this liqueur is for women—not just any woman though. Qream is geared towards a woman who likes the finer things in life. So who better to review this new concoction than Madame Noire? Qream comes in peach and strawberry, but I only tried the strawberry flavor.

Here are my thoughts on Pharrell’s latest tasty venture:

Pow! That’s what happened to my tastebuds when the strawberry , vodka-based Qream landed on my tongue. It was a  little stronger than I had anticipated, similar to an unexpected but exhilarating  bass line in a Pharrell produced track.  The alcohol content is 12.5%, which is a tad less than the malbec I have with dinner, but that 12.5% packs a punch. Pharrell says the cutie pie drink also has less calories than a glass of red wine. Now that’s a plus!

After the initial splash settled in, I could taste the softer notes of strawberry and vanilla and the drink smoothed out a bit. By the second and third sip, Qream and I became old friends.

“Qream was created for contemporary women who work hard and want to relax with friends at the end of the day,” says Pharrell. “I want them to reward themselves deliciously.  Women make up half the population and Qream is about celebrating that power.  To work with Diageo in bringing something original like Qream and the notion of delicious living to market has been a thrill.”

“Delicious living”…I want some of that Pharrell! Qream is not some wimpy watered down drink for “girls.” It’s a grown woman’s beverage that is strong with delicate notes and presented in a beautiful package-reminiscent of the intended drinker.  The website (which is super cute by the way) suggests putting Qream on the rocks, adding it to a cocktail or even baked into cupcakes.  I tried it on the rocks, but strawberry Qream cupcakes sound downright lovely.

Oh and another cool thing about Qream is that even though it has a somewhat creamy (but not too thick) consistency, it’s 99% dairy free. Shout out to all the lactose intolerant drinkers in the house! When I shared the bottle of Qream with co-workers (Don’t you want to be on staff at Madame Noire?), everyone agreed that it’s something new and different for the ladies.

Now, I need to try that peach flavor…

Have you tried Qream yet, what do you think? What’s your fav celeb endorsed/created drink?
