I used to be the most impatient person that I knew. One important lesson I’ve learned is that some things just can’t be timed, and that includes matters of the heart. While it makes sense to have a good idea of how you want your life to play out, it’s important not to sabotage yourself and make life-changing decisions out of panic.
When you’re 21 years old and fresh out of college you may plot out a life where you become an executive assistant at your dream job by 26, meet the man of your dreams approximately a year later, then comes love, then comes marriage and lastly you with a baby carriage by thirty. We don’t often account for that little thing called life which includes layoffs, career changes and spending years in what seems like the perfect relationship only to find out your Prince Charming has been cheating on you for more than half of that time. Before you know it, you’re approaching your 30th birthday and instead of celebrating the fact that you are completely fabulous even if you’re unemployed and single, you get into a pregnancy panic as if your eggs will shrivel into dust the minute the clock strikes twelve.
