Waiting to Exhale

I know most of the words to almost every scene Angela Bassett was in as she played the role of Bernadine in Waiting to Exhale. Who can forget the scene where she tears down all of her soon-to-be-ex John’s clothes, gathers them in a cute wagon, throws them in his beloved car and sets that joint on fire!? Or how about when Bernie waltzes into John’s place of business and smacks the mess out of his new woman (one of the white persuasion by the way) and lays down the law? Yeah, a lot of her behavior post her relationship’s implosion was on the ratchet side, but we couldn’t help but to root Bernie on. She was a symbol of woman who had to put up with the absolute most and were not appreciated in return. I could have sat and watched her set fire to a whole garage full of cars and still not been the least bit bothered by it. Go ‘head girl!
