1,000 CPS Teachers Protest Canceled Raises While Execs Get Higher Salaries

(Chicago Sun Times) — More than 1,000 angry teachers encircled the block holding the Chicago Board of Education Wednesday, chanting “Rahm Emanuel has got to go,” just as Emanuel’s hand-picked school board members prepared for their first monthly meeting.  The throng — as many as five deep — wound around the entire block, stopping morning traffic and urging drivers with their signs to “honk if you support teachers.” As a result, blaring car horns often accompanied chanting protesters.
