A Mid-Winter Parents Staycation Away From It All: New York City’s Executive Hotel Le Soleil

March 8, 2016  |

When was the last time you watched your favorite TV show, took a shower that lasted more than three minutes, or just slept in a little later without a tiny voice yelling “MOM!”? If it’s been more than a week – or if you can’t remember – it’s time for a little getaway without going too far away.

The Executive Hotel Le Soleil New York invited us for a couple of nights recently and it is the perfect place for a relaxing stay cation. While it puts you far enough away from the kids to unwind, you’re close enough to go home when you start to miss them. So we packed a bag, and grabbed a MetroCard for the nearest subway and Momma got away!

You’ll be greeted by a doorman, the hotel concierge and cafe staff right away, and check-in is super easy. Grab your keys and head up to your room.

Each of the 162 rooms in the Executive Hotel Le Soleil New York (38 West 36th Street, NYC, 212-695-0003) are designed to convey style, sophistication and yes moms and dads, romance.

They all feature floor-to-ceiling windows, and every room above the 16th floor has a view of the city’s magnificent skyline. You can sink into custom-designed furniture and plush beds with luxurious bedding.

Other in-room indulgences include fluffy bathrobes and slippers, a 43” flat screen TV with cable, fully-stocked mini bar, spacious work desk, audio docking station, cordless bedside phone, Keurig coffee maker (Nespresso coffee makers are in the penthouse suites), morning newspaper, and exclusive Acca Kappa Italian-made bath products. They even supply guests with an umbrella which came in handy since we had stormy weather both nights.

We didn’t cook because we went out for dinner, but we did use the microwave to make popcorn. The services at the Executive Hotel Le Soleil are plentiful, too. The fitness room features state-of-the-art treadmills along with an exercise bike, an elliptical, a universal weight machine, exercise benches, free weights, yoga mats and exercise balls.

On the menu was a lot of relaxing on the couch in front of the TV with a few magazines, wine and popcorn. We did MSNBC and Chill, for real.

Close to the exit in the lobby is the L’Espresso Cafe which offers baked-fresh-daily pastries and breakfast treats, Nespresso brand coffee, and wine. Other features include a complimentary business center and free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, laundry and dry cleaning, and concierge services.

Did I mention we could have stayed for a week?

If you feel like seeing the city for a bit, just step outside the hotel and rediscover NYC. Executive Hotel Le Soleil New York is close – either walking distance or a short subway ride away – to attractions people from all over the world come to see, including Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Central Park, and shopping at Macy’s, Lord & Taylor and H&M (my favorite). and all the restaurants and pubs that line East 36th Street. In fact, when you make your reservation, ask about the hotel’s Retail Therapy package which includes a $25 Macy’s gift card and two $10 vouchers to the hotel’s espresso cafe.

With all these features and a friendly staff (they gave us a courtesy call, Executive Hotel Le Soleil New York is surely to put stressed-out parents at ease. Click here to make reservations.
