Mommy Needs A Moment: 10 Ways To Get Some Me Time
By Nadine Graham
Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, you are someone’s mother. It can be a thankless job, but no matter what – the love is still there. These children are yours and you love them dearly, but still, sometimes even Mommy needs a couple hours to redirect her energy — just to feel balanced. Whether it’s rediscovering a passion nurtured before kids or finding something new to get into like painting, every mom wants me time. For a few great ways to get some me time, try the following…
Back to School
So many cities offer adult-learning classes. Get that brain sharp by touching up on your high school Spanish or go extra creative. Grab that DLSR camera you got for Christmas and sign up for some photography courses.
Hit the Movies — The Foreign Films
If you pay close enough attention, you can find some theaters in your city that only show independent films or even host film festivals. Some indies can be a bit much but others are simply awesome. If you don’t have an issue with subtitles in your moving pictures then try and catch a foreign film too.
What About Your Friends?
Remember when you and your girls used to kick it? Before you up and started having kids — ruined all the fun. Just kidding! Listen. Now, you have a few hours and you should probably call your buddies without babies. Y’all can have a throwback night, get super dressed-up and revisit some of your old traditions even if it’s just dinner and drinks.
Get Your Blood Pumping
They say exercise feeds the body as well as the soul. Go for a run or head to that spin class you’ve been avoiding since you went that one time and couldn’t walk straight for a week. Or if you’re already pretty active, try something new. Hit one of those indoor rock-climbing facilities.
