Whether we’d like to admit it or not, we’ve all suffered from bacne before. And if not, well, you’re surely lucky you have yet to cross path with its wrath.
With summertime right around the corner, we’re all scrambling to find out just how to combat the pesky issue that can at times lower our confidence. Because honestly, who wants to feel self conscious when bearing your shoulders, clavicle/chest area, and back in a tank top or dress?
Well, for those suffering, celebrity dermatologist Christie Kidd recently dropped some major keys on how to prevent bacne, and it all starts with revamping your shower routine.
“Most of the time it’s how we wash and condition our hair that’s causing it,” she told Mimi Chatter
. “Most of us, we wash our hair, we condition it. And while our conditioner is sitting, that’s when we wash our body, and then the last thing we do is rinse out our condition. Wrong.”
Apparently, hair products like shampoo, conditioner and oil can clog the pores, too, just like when you get breakouts on your face — the back is no different, ladies.
“You need to wash and condition your hair first,” Kidd explained. “Rinse all your conditioner out and clip your hair up and now wash your body. I want you to lather your chest and back with your hands, not an abrasive back brush. Lather, lather, lather, and let it sit while you’re washing the rest of your body. And just before you get out of the shower is when you’ll rinse everything off. That will cut down your bacne a lot.”
