Now that 2016 is firmly in place, it’s time to ask the question it seems like we stumble upon every year. Is now the time when it’s okay for women to propose to men? These women would certainly say that the answer is “yes.” When they felt they waited long enough for him to put a ring on it (and for one woman, that was about two weeks), they took matters into their own hands and popped the question themselves.

How did their men react? You might be surprised. These fiancé’s looked everything from shocked and surprised to overjoyed. How do you think your boyfriend would react if you were the one to pop the question? If you’re thinking of taking a modern approach to marriage, consider following these women’s examples.

Or do you think that it’s still better for a woman to wait for a man to ask (and then walk away if he doesn’t within a certain time frame)?
