If You Hate Yogurt But Still Need Your Probiotics, Consider This

While the vagina cleans itself naturally, there are things you can put in your body to help it flourish more healthily and maintain a good level of healthy bacteria. Probiotics are one of those things.

These so called “good bacteria” are a combo of live bacteria and yeasts already in your body that aid in healthy digestion and urinary and vaginal health but sometimes you have to be a little proactive about maintaining a healthy level of probiotics in your system.

When a woman has a yeast infection, the number one home remedy suggested is yogurt because it contains Lactobacillus, “friendly bacteria that normally live in our digestive, urinary, and genital systems without causing disease,” according to the NIH. But when it comes to the texture and consistency of yogurt, most times I rather have the yeast infection. Not really, but sorta kinda.

That aversion to yogurt is why I was really excited about HUM Nutrition’s latest product, Raw Beauty. For months my co-workers have raved about various supplements from the nutrition company and even reviewed a few on the site, but with my own supplement regimens on my weight loss journey, I never thought to give them a try. But this Green Superfood Powder excited me, mostly for the pro-biotic benefit.

Raw Beauty contains Lactobacillus Rhamnosus, a pro-biotic with an anti-inflammatory effect to keep your gut healthy;  Bifidobacterium Bifido which prevents gastrointestinal disorders and skin inflammation; and Acidophilus Blend, a third probiotic that improves bloating. Within a few days of drinking the powder as a smoothie with 8 ounces of water, that “uh oh a yeast infection might be coming on” feeling subsided and my vagina felt like normal again. And probiotics aren’t the only beneficial ingredient in this product which also has antioxidants, adaptogens for energy, enzymes, and fibers for metabolism. If you like mint chocolate chip, this flavor will be right up your alley as well and it’s only 25 calories. In my book, this is a win all around.
