Walter Scott’s killer, Michael Slager, was released on bond Monday, just four months after he was initially denied bail. The former North Charleston police officer was arrested last April in connection to the senseless killing of Walter Scott during a routine traffic stop.
According to CNN, the conditions of Slager’s bail requires him to reside in South Carolina until his trial. He must also remain under house arrest and his prohibited from contacting the victim’s family.
In September, a judge denied him bail stating that the ex-cop was a flight risk and “would constitute an unreasonable danger to the community.” However, the defense argued that he should, at least, be allowed to be released on house arrest considering that he does not have a previous criminal record.
As previously reported, Slager’s trial is expected to begin in spring of 2016.
