13 Musicians We’re Still Willing to Buy Albums For
To convince consumers to actually run out to their local record store (are those even a thing anymore?) or hit up Amazon to actually buy a record is quite a daunting task. But there are a select few artists who will send us in droves to drop $20 for their full-length record. Who are these incredible stars? Here we name the musicians that can still convince us to legally acquire music and not just stream it.
This one shouldn’t come as a surprise, seeing how her new album “25” slaughtered the pop charts and her concerts have sold out in minutes, Adele is one artist that we are willing to jump through hoops, walk through fire and spend actual cash money. While we’ll probably, have to cling to “25” for a hot minute before we see Adele churning out “26,” we will be riding the wave of her smooth sounds for months to come.
Damn you, Martin Shkreli. As if we needed another reason to hate this greedy little man, the fact that he is keeping a never-before-heard Wu Tang album all to himself has just shown how much we’re all feigning for some new music from these guys. While the future of “Once Upon A Time In Shaolin” is still uncertain, it goes without saying that if Wu Tang were to drop a new record tomorrow, we’d be on line (like on an actual, physical line) tonight.
Is it even a question that any new music from Queen Bey would draw quite the crowd, clamoring to get the album in their hands. Though she did us all a solid by virtually releasing her self-titled album two years ago, that didn’t spoil the Beehive. We know they’d be ready, willing and completely able to drop cash money on any new music.
2015 will go down as the year of The Weeknd. This wildly talented man managed to charm the pants off of everyone who listened to his music. And as a result, we can’t help but admit that The Weeknd is more than a free download search in our browsers. Even if we couldn’t find one note of his music for free download, we would pony up whatever it cost to take a listen.
Like wifey, like hubby. While Jay-Z has taken a step away from recording his own music, we would be all about it if he picked up the mic again and delivered some new songs to us.
Just as Adele proved this fall, pure talent wins the day when it comes to album sales. So with that logic, we had to include the amazing John Legend on our list. With a voice that is strong, smooth and oh so sexy, there is no doubt that we would do whatever we had to in order to secure a copy of his latest release.
Say what you will about Kanye West as a person. He can be super annoying, incredibly arrogant and downright misguided at times, but that doesn’t change the fact that when Kanye drops new music we will be all over it.
It’s been a hot minute since we’ve heard from Weezy, but that has only added fuel to our musical fire to here new music from this lauded rapper. The long-awaited “Tha Cater V’ album has been in pretty much a holding pattern for years at this point, but that hasn’t diminished just how much we’re longing to give it a listen … or the lengths we’ll go to get a copy.
Now Alicia Keys was definitely on the fence. It’s been a long time since her breakout “Songs in A Minor” and to be honest we’ve sometimes been underwhelmed by what the songstress has to offer. But ever since we saw her crush it on “Empire” alongside Jussie Smollett, we’ve been back on the A-Team and longing for some good music.
Can we please get a Miseducation follow-up?
We love Big Boi. We love Andre 3000. But we love Outkast even more. This duo has never let us down and we’re certainly in the market for the quirky, catchy and interesting beats that they drop. Not doubt we’d be willing to drop some dollars for a listen to new material.
Rihanna has been working on her new album for what seems like an eternity. But it looks like she might really be on the cusp of a release. She even went so far as to cancel an appearance at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show to reportedly continue work on her album. Trust us, RiRi, we’re counting down the days.
OK, not everyone is going to agree with us on Bruno Mars, but when it comes to talent and pure showmanship, few can touch this powerhouse. So on that alone, we’d be willing to take whatever steps necessary to get a listen to new music.
