Do Better: Azealia Banks Arrested For Biting A Security Guard’s Boob
Listen, Azealia Banks has her great moments. Many argue her music is great. Her thoughts about cultural appropriation were great. But, if I’m being very honest, some of her words and behavior lead me to believe she might also have some issues she needs to address.
This recent incident at a Manhattan nightclub is just the latest piece of evidence.
According to Page Six, Banks was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning outside of the New York City club Up&Down.
Allegedly, the 24-year-old rapper attacked a female security guard, spitting in the woman’s face, punching her and then “biting her boob” according to one source. Another source told Page Six that she almost broke through the woman’s shirt as police were pulling her off of the woman.
The altercation began when Banks arrived at the club with an invited guest for the birthday party of one of the club’s owners. A witness said it was an invite only event and you needed a stamp to gain entry. When Banks tried to enter through a downstairs exit, she was told to go back upstairs and get a stamp. That’s what she got upset.
A source said that when both the male and female security guards didn’t recognize Banks, she started screaming, cursing and using racial slurs.
One of the club owners, seeing all of the commotion, decided to “give her a pass to let her in.” But that wasn’t enough. According to one witness, “once she was 15 feet inside, she starts to curse at the guards again, explaining who she was, that she’s on Rihanna’s album.”
Security guards escorted her out. As they were doing so, Banks bit the female security guard in the breast, causing redness and swelling. Hanging on with her teeth, as her body was being pulled the other way, Banks nearly ripped the guard’s shirt.
Strangely, as she was being dragged out, she said that she was going to call the cops before approaching an NYPD Traffic Enforcement car. When she returned to the front of the club with the officers, she punched the female bouncer and was taken away. As she was being detained, she asked officers “Why are you arresting me?”
The female bouncer declined medical attention at the scene.
Banks was charged with a misdemeanor of third-degree assault and was held until Wednesday evening when she was arraigned and released on her own recognizance. She reportedly posed for photographers on her way out.
This is not the first time Banks has acted out in this way. This past September, she had an outburst on a Delta flight from New York to LA, calling a flight attendant a fa–ot. The incident was caught on video.
She could use some help for what appears to be, at the very least, a serious anger management issue.
