OITNB’s Dascha Polanco Breaks Silence On Allegations That She Assaulted A Teen
Earlier this month, we told you that Dascha Polanco was charged with assault, attempted assault and harassment after allegedly punching 17-year-old Michelle Cardona in her Manhattan apartment. The “Orange Is the New Black” star recently addressed the allegations during an appearance on “Huff Post Live” and expressed that she is not concerned that this situation will impact her career nor OITNB’s success.
“No, no they won’t [have an affect on the upcoming season of “Orange Is the New Black”], 33-year-old Polanco said with a smile.
When asked if she believes the allegations are a result of people trying to “take advantage” Polanco agreed.
“Yeah, definitely. I lost the biggest thing in my life, which was my mother, nobody is going to knock me down. It takes more than that.”
She went on to say that she’s not concerned about the case.
“People that know me know that know my quality, my professionalism, who I am, they’re not worried and neither am I.”
According to Variety, Polanco is set to return to court on January 28. She faces up to a year in prison if convicted; however, her attorney expressed confidence in the case being thrown out by a judge.
