She Tried It: Passion Remy Indian Hair Extensions

December 7, 2015  |

I love to switch things up, which is why the weeks-long commitment of getting a sew-in hair weave can be such a drag at times. Lately, I’ve been luxuriating in the convenience that clip-in hair extensions provide. In a matter of minutes, I can go from sporting my everyday shoulder length do to having long and luxurious curls cascading down my back.

Since I’m a bit of a do-it-yourself girl at heart, I enjoy making my own clip-ins, as opposed to purchasing them online or in stores. And when I received two bundles of Marina Bella Imports’ 18″ Passion Remy Indian Human Hair extensions to review, I decided that it was time to whip up a new set of clip-ins.

Marina Bella Imports is an African-American owned beauty supply and distribution company. The brand recently launched its own premium line of 100% human hair.

Passion Remy Hair is hand-picked from the sacred religious temples of India,” says Marina Bella’s founder Alexanderia Haidara. “It is 100% real with all cuticles intact […] Passion Remy hair can be easily washed and blow dried without tangling. The hair is versatile and lasts up to a year.”

I’ve been wearing my homemade Passion Remy clip-ins for a few days now, and I love them so far. For starters, I appreciate the thin wefts, which made attaching the wig clips very simple. As for the quality of the extensions, I have not experienced any shedding so far. The occasional tangle here and there is to be expected with any hair extensions, but I don’t suspect that you’ll experience matting of any kind with this brand as long as you care for them properly. Also, these extensions hold curls flawlessly. Curls are a great way to blend slightly different hair textures and lengths.

The 18″ bundles that I received were pretty full and they were true to length (Yes, I pulled out the tape measure). I believe that 2 – 2.5 bundles should do the trick for a full sew-in, depending on how full you like your hair to be. Depending on the look you’re going for, 1 bundle should work for a set of clip-ins, but if you’d like a fuller look, you should purchase two.

Price points vary depending on the texture of hair you want, but prices range from $60 per bundle to $115 per bundle.

The bottom line: If you’re fed up with your current brand of hair extensions or are just looking to try something new, Passion Remy Hair is worth checking out.
