Tyra Banks Explains Why She Left Her TV Show
Last month, Tyra Banks delivered the shocking announcement that she would be leaving her daytime talk show “FABLife” after just two months. While the supermodel-turned-entrepreneur didn’t offer a specific reason at the time she made the revelation, she did share that she would be focusing her attention on other projects.
“I will be devoting more time to my new, growing cosmetics company, TYRA Beauty, which is expanding faster than anticipated, as well as overseeing my company’s other entertainment ventures. I will, however, continue to support the growth and success of FABLife and greatly admire my fellow co-hosts and the talented production team behind the show,” she said at the time.
Weeks after dropping the bombshell, Banks spoke with USA Today and explained her decision.
“I realized that if I stepped away (from show business) for five years to start this business, I need to focus on this and not run my company in emails and in quick meetings between shows of FABLIfe. And I made that decision,” the 41-year-old beauty explained to the news outlet.
And speaking of show business, Banks revealed that her biggest misstep over the course of her lengthy television career was not paying attention to ratings.
“I didn’t follow metrics as much as I should have. We didn’t look at ratings and go, ‘Oh, that episode rated (highly) so next year let’s do that again with a twist.’ …We just went off our gut and what we thought would be good.”
Well, you live, and you learn—and it’s clear that Miss Tyra has learned a whole lot. We wish her the best in all of her future endeavors.
