When people heard Kirk Franklin’s latest project is titled Losing My Religion, many assumed the song writer had lost his way but when the musician came by the office to discuss the album, he explained that he didn’t give up his relationship with Jesus, instead he put aside those aspects of religion that prohibited him from being as close to God as he wanted to grow.

It’s often those traditions based on people rather than biblical principles that lead many to forsake the church, so we asked Franklin what he thinks about the growing African American atheist movement as well as his recent decision to apologize to the LGBT community.
