Because people love using a tragedy as an excuse to spread their ignorance.
A British aesthetician was recently arrested over a series of “racially abusive” posts shared on her lash salon’s Facebook page, Telegraph reports.
“Blinks of Bicester are no longer taking bookings from anyone from the Islamic faith whether you are UK granted with a passport or not,” the 43-year-old business owner wrote. “Sorry, but time to put my country first.”
Her comments, which were apparently fueled by the terrorist attacks in Paris, quickly attracted backlash from Facebook users; however, the woman refused to back down.
“Hysterical! I’m a private business and not LTD, so I can say what I want about clients of my choice.!! Thought so. My solicitor just confirmed it so; please ring the local Constabulary. Sure they will charge you for wasting police time.”
She was later arrested by Thames Valley Police.
“The woman was arrested under section 19 of the Public Order Act which relates to the display of written material which is threatening, abusive or insulting with the intention of stirring up racial hatred, and for producing malicious communications,” said a police spokesperson. “We take all such complaints seriously and will investigate.”
