Iconic hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest is notoriously known for breaking up and reuniting again — mostly for the sake of their die-hard fans that are nostalgic over golden age rhymes.
“I think it is ludicrous that we are not performing together,” Phide Dawg said to Rolling Stone in an interview.
However, after discontinuing their performances together, the guys got back to together yesterday on last night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (Nov. 13) for a special celebration of the 25th anniversary of their debut album, People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm.
Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi White took center stage as they gave a phenomenal performance of their classic hit “Can I Kick It?,” which was backed by Fallon’s house band, The Roots.
In addition to their 25th anniversary celebration, the group’s legendary debut album has been re-released in a deluxe version that features remixes of their tracks from every imaginable like Pharrell, J.Cole and more.
