If famed cartoonist Charles M. Schultz was still alive – he would be over the moon about Fox and Blue Sky’s feature presentation of the Peanuts Movie. – Karen Hudson

Last week, I brought my son Kannon Ball and his friends to see the advanced screening of the Peanuts Movie at Regal Cinemas in Times Square NYC. As a mom who has covered tons of junkets and screenings targeting children over the last few years, all I can say is that the Peanuts Movie, produced by Fox and Blue Sky – is nothing short of amazing.

For the first time in ions, I was able to bring my son to a feature film that was fresh, innocent and just aesthetically pleasing to his young eyes. With the advancement of digital technology in films, many family-friendly flicks are animated in a fashion that challenges children’s imagination. I love that! However, in the same breath, many films are so busy that my son is totally wired by a features end – which often takes away from a films message. The Peanuts Movie offered something different. The film allowed my son to process the story line in a way that was insightful and empowering, while being brilliantly beautiful.

When the movie concluded, Kannon Ball stated that Charlie Brown was a real hero. He finally faced his fears with the Little Red-Hair Girl.

I realized then that he understood the message of determination and self-confidence in the face of adversity.

For most of us – we grew up with The Peanuts gang. We recall the awkwardness of Charlie Brown, his often naive relationship with bossy little Lucy, and off course the sweet union between Snoopy and Woodstock. We loved the soft presence of Franklin and the focus of Schroeder behind those piano keys. Oh! Let’s not forget the tomboy spirit of freckled Peppermint Patty.

We knew that Charlie Brown had big dreams, but somehow along the way life’s little challenges got the best of him – for just a little while. Doesn’t it feel familiar to your life?If so, imagine your children who are trying to find their way in this super big world filled with roadblocks and little diversions. In summary, the Peanuts Movie will help children see the world as a mix of success and challenges. The film will help youngsters appreciate their differences and realize that self-discovery starts from within.
