Honesty Hour: Do You Trust Your Spouse With Your Life?

October 29, 2015  |

According to the experts, any strong marriage is built on trust, which makes sense. Anyone you’re sharing a home with, having children with and essentially building a life with, should have your trust. But exactly how far does that trust go?

In a recent interview with V magazine, Brad Pitt revealed that he thoroughly enjoys taking orders from his wife, Angelina Jolie, and would place his life in her hands without a second thought.

“She’s decisive, incredibly intuitive, knife-sharp and, might I say, sexy at her post,” he said. “I trust her with my life.”

To place his words in context, we should note that he was discussing their new movie, By The Sea, which he starred in alongside Jolie, who also directed the film. However, it’s evident that the two have established a deep level of trust that healthy relationships are made of. There are thousands of stories on the web about husbands who saved their wives in life-threatening situations, and vice versa. However, one particular entry that stood out to me was a Facebook entry a woman named Michelle shared with That’s Life! magazine.

“I had a miscarriage, and my husband rang the hospital for them to say for me to go in the next morning as I had an appointment,” wrote Michelle. “After awhile I was still losing a lot of blood and kept losing consciousness and my husband put me in the car and rushed me to A & E. It was discovered that I had a blood clot stuck in my cervix, and that was why I was bleeding so much. We were told that if he hadn’t taken me to the hospital when he did I would have died.”

Thank God her husband chose to follow his gut instinct and rushed her to the hospital because Michelle’s story could’ve ended much differently.

We’d like to hear from you. Do you trust your spouse with your life? Why or why not?
