Yesterday, T.I. was relentlessly roasted across social media platforms following his comments about why he would never vote for a female president. The blunder heard around the world went a little something like this:
Not to be sexist but, I can’t vote for the leader of the free world to be a woman. Just because, every other position that exists, I think a woman could do well. But the president? It’s kind of like, I just know that women make rash decisions emotionally – they make very permanent, cemented decisions – and then later, it’s kind of like it didn’t happen, or they didn’t mean for it to happen. And I sure would hate to just set off a nuke. [Other leaders] will not be able to negotiate the right kinds of foreign policy; the world ain’t ready yet. I think you might be able to get the Lochness Monster elected before you could [get a woman].
TMZ was later able to catch up with the rapper’s wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, who shared her opinion on her hubby’s comments. For one, she says that that didn’t take his words personally.
“No, I’m not disrespected by his comments because I know him, and I know who he is. Either way, I think that it was not tasteful. But I’m not disrespected because I know the man he is.”
“I would hope he was joking,” she added.
When asked if she feels that he’s sexist, she replied:
She went on to explain that her husband operates under old fashioned principles and believes that a woman should be taken care of by a man.
“He wants to be the man. He wants to take care of everything. He wants the woman to be treated like a princess.”
Does she agree?
“Sometimes I do. I can’t say that I don’t, but a woman has the right to do just as much as the man.”
As for why her husband thinks women are too emotional to the run the country, the former Xscape singer says he may have had her in mind when he made the comments.
“He might have been thinking about me at the time,” she said.
