Rihanna Reveals Her New Album Isn’t Titled ‘R8’ And Its Cover Art
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.jsRihanna’s highly-anticipated R8 is the equivalent of Dr. Dre’s Detox – it’s never happening.
Why? Well, the #R8 hashtag she’s been stamping Instagram flicks and Twitter updates with, that we all thought was her next album isn’t even the title. On Wednesday (Oct. 9) night, the Bajan pop princess surprised all with a swanky exhibit-style reveal of the forthcoming album’s cover art and actual title, Anti. At Los Angeles’ MAMA Gallery, the bad gal poured it up with friends, family and music execs to celebrate the album we know little about. ”
This is my favorite album cover I’ve ever done,” she said. Created by artist Roy Nachum, the front cover features a oil painted image of young Rih Rih holding a balloon with a gold crown covering her eyes. It’s been reported that the painting is from a photo of her first day of school.
The cover also includes Braille art that we’ve seen in Rihanna’s previous singles, “FourFiveSeconds” and “B*tch Better Have My Money.” On Anti’s back cover, there’s poems by Chloe Mitchell in Braille. One poem reads: “What I choose to say is of so much substance/That people just won’t understand the depth of my message/So my voice is not my weakness/It is the opposite of what others are afraid of/My voice is my suit and armor/My shield, and all that I am.”
“Sometimes the ones who have sight are the blindest,” Rih explained to those at the event regarding the album’s art concept.
That same night Rihanna made sure to hop on Instagram and give her fans a litte insight on the chosen title.
