The motherhood over career and career over motherhood conversation continues…
After Gabrielle Union, Tyra Banks, Chrissy Teigen and even Sex and the City‘s Kim Catrall gave their takes on their struggles with becoming pregnant, or not, The Talk co-host Aisha Tyler is chimed in on the topic as well.
While Tyler applauded Gabrielle’s honesty, she revealed that she’s on the opposite side of the ‘debate.’
“I was with someone at 19 and I was married at 23 and I didn’t want kids when I was in my 20s,” said Aisha. “I wasn’t mentally prepared to take care of them, I was focused on my career. And then when I got to be in my 40s and I thought about having kids, I wasn’t able to have kids naturally. I don’t regret it.”
“These were my choices and I don’t regret them,” she said. “I won’t apologize for choosing my career over kids.”
Co-host Sara Gilbert (who is a mom) agreed, expressed regret about society’s views on women who choose alternative paths. “I don’t know why there’s a stigma… I always think it’s amazing that people know themselves, and know whether they can care for someone.”
Still, why are women so criticized for not having kids?
